One of the many realities conservatives are painfully aware of is that when it comes to the negative actions of leftists, they’re almost always downplayed by the media. And that’s only after those actions are discovered, oftentimes having been covered up by fellow leftists and the media itself.

Whether it’s Bill or Hillary Clinton, or the late Ted Kennedy, there are practically no lengths the Left won’t go to in order to preserve the image of its most important members. In Kennedy’s case, he was involved in a fatal accident that to this day, is still shrouded in mystery. Largely thanks to the strange lack of interest expressed by the media in getting to the bottom of the incident. But here we are, 5 decades later, and thanks to Hollywood, a new generation of folks will be introduced into the controversial politician’s darkest hour.

As reported at People, the trailer for the new film “Chappaquiddick” as just hit the web, and as the title implies, it dramatizes Ted Kennedy’s crash and escape from a car that went off the Dike Bridge on the island of Chappaquiddick. His 28-year-old passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, wasn’t so lucky.

On the night of July 18, 1969, six women and six men that worked for Robert F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign, as well as the brothers themselves, threw a party at a rented cottage on the island. Sometime after the party ended, Ted was driving with Kopechne in the passenger seat when he went of a bridge and into the water. While Kennedy escaped, Kopechne drowned, and the controversy centers around if Ted was impaired and if he actually made an effort to rescue the young woman.

Kennedy, who claimed he made a wrong turn and accidentally drove off the bridge late at night, said that he tried to save Kopechne, who was trapped inside the car. That’s what he claimed, but his actions in the aftermath raise a lot of questions.

It took him 10 hours to report the accident to the local Edgartown police, which eventually resulted in him pleading guilty to the charge of leaving the site of the accident. He received a two-month sentence and a year probation.

The new film “attempts” to answer what Kennedy was up to during those 10 hours and what prompted him to wait so long to report the deadly accident. Was he trying to sober up? Was he afraid the police would find something else out? Who really knows, but if you’re looking for what’s likely a factually loose dramatization of the ordeal, check the film out.
